If you have an eating disorder, you’re not alone. You need to talk to someone and get help.

Who can help you locally

You can start by talking to your school nurse or your doctor/GP.

If you think you may have an eating disorder the Eating Disorders Service is there to help people of all ages in Gloucestershire and their families. You or someone in your family can contact them directly. Call 01242 634242 or email anne-marie.willis@nhs.net or sam.clark-stone@nhs.net.

The Eating Disorders Service also runs a support group for young people and their families every other Thursday between 7pm and 8pm at the Brownhill Centre in Cheltenham.

This is a safe place where you and your family can get extra support for eating problems, alongside other people who understand what it is like to live with an eating disorder. Clinicians are there to answer your questions and give more information.

Other information and online support

B-eat is the UK’s leading charity giving help, support and advice on eating disorders to anyone affected by them. They run an online support group for young people. Call the helpline on 08456 347650, text 07786 201820 or email fyp@b-eat.co.uk.

Please be aware that there are also lots of websites, sometimes called ‘pro-Ana’ sites, that can make eating disorders seem okay and even encourage them as a lifestyle choice. They’re not – they’re an illness and you can get better.
